Dr. Herb Wong

For 25 years, Dr. Wong taught a jazz education course each quarter at the adult school. Herb had many interests, but jazz was his passion, and he loved to share it. He prepared and taught 75 unique courses for jazz students of the Palo Alto Adult School. Dr. Wong and Henry W. Page, then principal of the Palo Alto Adult School founded the Palo Alto Jazz alliance in 1992 in order to help educate the Bay Area community about jazz and provide scholarships for promising musicians. In December, the adult school presented Dr. Wong with the Palo Alto Excellence Award in Jazz Education to celebrate Dr. Wong’s accomplishments.
