Reading is a great way to expand your knowledge of French. You will use a contemporary French novel (Héritage, de Miguel Bonnefoy) as a vehicle for improving your language skills and discover aspects of French-speaking culture.

For each meeting, you are invited to read 20-25 pages in advance, to choose a short passage that you would like to read aloud in class, and to propose a possible translation of it for discussion with the group. Unclear passages are used to review language points (grammar and vocabulary). In order to focus on content, you will be are asked to sum up in French a paragraph or passage on which we have worked together.

Requirements: This class is aimed at students who can express themselves fairly fluidly in French, can understand complex sentences, have a solid knowledge of past tenses, and enjoy reading fiction in any other language.
