During the current Covid-19 period, this class is being held LIVE ONLINE via Zoom.

The primary goal of this course is to continue developing birding skills through bird identification by sight and sound. We will meet online via Zoom for one hour weekly, focusing on bird observation and identification skills, while considering the ecological context.

Typical class sessions will involve checking in with each other, comparing similar species via brief presentations, and practicing skills with ID challenges. During the spring, our local birds are quite vocal on breeding territories, so the spring quarter has natural emphases on migration, bird song identification, and breeding biology.

Optional Textbook: Any North America or Western North America bird field guide (Sibley’s Guide is a great one).
