Writing Academy

The Academy offers four levels of classes, beginning with the basics of sentence creation, paragraph development, and essay writing. When you complete the required assignments, you can earn Certificates of Achievement and/or Proficiency. You will provide a writing sample during the first class to confirm your level.

Textbooks (Morning classes): Writing to Communicate Book 1 (for levels I and II); Writing to Communicate Book 2 (for level III); Writing to Communicate 3: Essays and the Short Research Paper by Cynthia Boardman (for level IV). You can purchase required textbooks in the Adult School office.

**New students must take a required in-person English test for all Fundamentals of Writing classes.**
