Discover the artistry and joy of quilting in this beginner Quilting class! This hands-on workshop is perfect for those new to quilting. Learn the fundamentals of fabric selection, cutting, piecing, and stitching as your experienced instructor guides you through the step-by-step process. Unleash your creativity and create a beautiful quilted project to cherish. Join us for a fun and educational journey into the world of quilting! There will be an $85 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Limit 8 students.

Come learn how to quilt with Dana Miller! You will spend time learning the basics of quilting and leave with a completed table runner.

Prerequisite: Must know how to sew and use a sewing machine

  • Go over the basic rules for quilting
  • Talk about the necessary tools needed to begin quilting at home
  • Learn about choosing and coordinating fabrics
  • Learn how to cut your fabric using a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat
Session 2: 10/3/24
  • Continue cutting if needed
  • Begin piecing the quilt top
Session 3: 10/10/24
  • Continue piercing top
  • Add sashing and borders
Session 4: 10/17/24
  • Discussion on backing fabric.
  • Learn about various methods of basting
  • Talk about various types of quilting
  • Baste the quilt top and begin quilting
Session 5: 10/24/24
  • Cut and make binding
  • Learn about binding methods
  • Begin binding the quilt
Session 6: 10/31/24
  • Finish binding the quilt
  • Add label
