WOODTURNING: INTRODUCTION TO WOODSHOP BASICS AND THE LATHE New Class

You will learn basic woodshop safety, how to mill lumber from rough boards into a specific size, complete a simple glue-up, then turn your glue-up into a matching set of rolling pins on the lathe using the spindle roughing gouge. No prior experience is required. There will be a $40 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Limit 6 students.

This introductory class combines both flatwork and turning but is NOT a substitute for Woodworking 1 or Woodturning 1. Take your rolling pins to the next level by combining multiple pieces of wood! You will learn basic woodshop safety, how to mill lumber from rough boards into a specific size, complete a simple glue-up, then turn your glue-up into a matching set of rolling pins on the lathe using the spindle roughing gouge. Face shields will be provided (you are also welcome to bring your own if you have one) and it is recommended you bring at least an N95 mask for sawdust.
