BRAILLE AND AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE New Class

Are you ready to read, write, and speak with your hands? Here’s an after-school class with handy hints to help you over the bumpy start of reading and writing in Braille, so you can get a feel for Grade 1 (uncontracted) and Grade 2 (contracted) forms. Braille instruction alternates with learning American Sign Language (ASL), to focus on signs most commonly used with sighted, non-verbal students ages 3-22 in PAUSD’s Special Education classes. Guest speakers will be arranged to share their experiences and answer a wide range of questions. There will be a $20 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

Instructor: Eve Sutton, esutton@pausd.org

Prerequisite: Open to all adults including Advanced English language learners

This course is not offered this quarter.
