CLIMATE CHANGE: WHAT YOU CAN DO

With weekly reports of extreme weather, fire, floods, etc. now the norm, many are asking what they can do to address climate change. This fun class is designed to turn good intentions into action. Participants will learn about: green transportation, home energy saving, home electrification, recycling and composting, climate friendly finances/investing, making dietary changes, impacting policy, and more. Optional goal-setting and group support strengthen the class’s effectiveness. Fortunately, we can take action with a variety of approaches to safeguard the planet, lower our carbon footprints, and in the process save money, increase community, and improve health.

Instructor: Jane Rosten MSW, LCSW, Former Manager of Stanford HIP’s Environmental Behavior Change Program; Psychotherapist with Climate Distress specialty, and Stephen Attinger, MBA, Former Sustainability Director, City of Mountain View.

MORE INFO

This fun class, a version of which was taught at Stanford, is comprised of three sessions, designed to turn good environmental intentions into action. The course takes the guesswork out of which actions have greatest impact, providing a roadmap for where to spend your precious time.

Participants will learn how to: green transportation at their own pace, save energy at home, electrify their homes, recycle and compost better, incorporate climate-friendly personal finance and investing, make dietary changes, impact policy, and more! Instructors will combine their expertise from over three decades of professional work on the issue, including behavioral science and group support, to help participants make a real difference.

If you ever wondered if you could have any impact on the biggest human and planetary challenge of our time – climate change – while gaining health and economic benefits in the process, then this class is for you!

Instructors: Jane Rosten MSW, LCSW, Former Manager of Stanford HIP’s Environmental Behavior Change Program; Psychotherapist with Climate Distress specialty, and Stephen Attinger, MBA, Former Sustainability Director, City of Mountain View.
