WOODTURNING 3: FORM & DESIGN New Class

We’ll focus on making intentional design decisions that combine shapes into flowing curves at the lathe. You’ll get some refresher techniques on spindle turning and make wooden eggs for the class to critique. Additional projects include bud vases, a handle, and pens. There will be a $40 materials fee payable to the instructor at the first class meeting. This class is a study in form—think lines and shapes and how they can be combined into flowing curves. We’ll start with some refresher techniques on spindle turning and then make wooden eggs for the class to critique. You will have the opportunity to revisit making a wider range of bud vases and complete some projects with metal hardware. This includes turning a handle and some pens. The focus of this class will be on making intentional design decisions and bringing them to life at the lathe. Limit 6 students.
