This 2-session class offers the developing woodworker the opportunity to expand upon skills learned in Woodworking 1 by building a small box (about 5” wide x 8” long x 3.5” high) with spline-reinforced, mitered corners. Students will have the choice of various exotic (and jaw-dropping gorgeous) woods from which to build the box and top.
Your box will be the envy of your family and friends and perfect for holiday gift-giving, if you dare part with them! New skills covered in this class are cutting grooves on the ripping table saw, mitered corners on the crosscut table saw, rabbets on the router, box clamping, and splines.
No textbook required.
There will be a $40 materials fee payable to the instructor to cover the cost of wood.
Prerequisite: This class requires the successful completion of Woodworking 1, building on the skills learned there for the safe use of power-tools in the shop. This project class does not satisfy the requirements for Woodworking 3.
