Woodworking / WOODWORKING WITH HAND TOOLS (**NEW**)

WOODWORKING WITH HAND TOOLS (**NEW**)

Explore the world of traditional tools and hand skills using actual antique tools. Build something beautiful while learning those skills!

This class will introduce you to wood, the tools you will need, how to care for them, and of course how to use them. In this class students will learn about wood as an engineering material, as well as an artistic one. They will learn all the basic skills need to design and build objects that will last generations. Students will learn fundamental skills in maintaining and adjusting their tools for best results, will learn how to mill wood to their dimensions, and how to cut the most useful joints (for example, dovetails, mortise & tenons, dado’s, and rabbet joints). We will make a few smaller projects then move on to make a small Japanese style tool box.

This is a fun but busy class. So bring a notebook and clothes that can get dirty!

A materials fee will be collected to cover the project costs.
