Julie Ann Lowery is an accomplished actress and writer with a deep foundation in classical
theatre. A graduate of Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, where she earned a BFA in
Theatre Arts, Lowery brings both rigorous academic training and extensive professional
experience to her teaching.
Her classical training includes advanced study with master teachers from Shakespeare &
Company in Lenox, Massachusetts — where she deepened her understanding of
Shakespearean text, verse, and performance. Lowery is also trained in the Linklater Method,
the renowned vocal technique developed by Kristin Linklater that frees the natural voice and
connects it to language, breath, and authentic emotional expression. This powerful
combination of classical text work and voice training forms the cornerstone of her approach
to teaching Shakespeare.
Her professional acting career has spanned stage, television and film, with notable credits
including Quantum Leap, As the World Turns, and The Larry Sanders Show — work that
reflects the versatility and range that come from a rigorous classical training rooted in the
dramatic tradition Shakespeare helped define.
Currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Julie Ann Lowery is passionate about making
Shakespeare accessible, dynamic, and relevant for students of all levels — from first-time
readers to seasoned performers ready to take on the Bard’s most demanding roles.
