Yvonne Ip

Yvonne was introduced to Ikebana while attending the Retail Floristry Certificate Program at Mission College in Santa Clara. Soon after completion, she became immersed in the study and practice of this ancient Japanese art of flower arranging, taking formal lessons and attending a variety of workshops. She received her teaching credentials from The Sogetsu School of Ikebana in Japan (current level: Jonin Sanyo).

Yvonne’s work—an amalgamation of modernism and the traditional principles of form, balance and simplicity—has been displayed at several prestigious Bay Area venues, such as Filoli, the de Young Museum, the Legion of Honor and the Asian Art Museum. She is also a frequent exhibitor at the flower arranging shows organized by Ikebana International San Francisco, the Ikebana Teachers’ Federation and local Sogetsu study groups.

Creating personally expressive floral sculptures has, over the years, filled Yvonne with a deep sense of joy. She is committed to sharing her knowledge and experience with her students, and guiding them in the search for meaningful ways to engage with this art form.
