In Acrylic Painting, I learned how to sketch and paint with this new medium. I'll continue to experiment, building on what I learned in class.

After taking Yvonne's Ikebana class, I plan to continue creating Ikebana arrangements at home with the flowers and material I purchase. The course was art therapy for me and a new way to express my creativity.

Paola’s crochet/ knitting expertise is expansive and she skillfully guides all levels. In my Beginning Crochet class, I would bring in questions about crochet projects and she would show me how to do it, and based on my interests she would bring in new books, patterns, and ideas to encourage me to evolve. She is a very talented artist and instructor!

I took the Learn to Crochet class to learn how to read and follow patterns. I've now crocheted a hooded scarf and will make a bag in the next class. I love this class!

In my Sewing class, I refreshed my skills and learned new techniques. I gained the confidence to move forward and sew window treatments for my home.

The live instruction and hands-on practice in the Hemming and Mending sewing class was exactly what I was hoping for in learning a new skill. I plan to immediately begin to hem and mend my kids' clothes.

The Hemming and Mending class was great. I learned new techniques for hemming my clothes that I hadn't tried before. I also learned about mending techniques and I practiced with a new method, Sashiko, which I read about but didn't know how to implement. It was very helpful to have access to the various supplies that can be used for both activities. For example, I loved the fabric cutter. The instructors' years of experience with sewing and their obvious love of it was inspiring.

In my Intermediate Birding class, I really improved my birding skills. Scott goes above and beyond in this class, especially on the field trips. I've referred multiple friends to Scott's class and they've all loved it.

I took the Intermediate Birding class to improve my ability to identify and understand birds. The field trips were wonderful.

Restarting a professional career is definitely not easy, especially in another language or country. I was lost. But I want to let you know that you were my first point of contact here in the US and you helped me a lot. I got a contractor job at Google and I couldn’t be happier. I want to thank Kathilynn Lehmer for taking her time to help me. We started in August meeting once a week until November. She has helped me so much from improving my resume to my interview skills. She motivated me to continue looking for any opportunity even though I was feeling like I would never find a job in my field. The instructors were key to making the Upholstery class a success. They have so much hands-on talent.

The Upholstery class gave me the skills to work on reupholstering a chair. The course provided direction and source of materials needed.

In the Upholstery class, I made nice furniture, kept lots of chairs out of the landfill, and enjoyed doing it.

Taking an Adult School class helped me to understand the French language and culture. In my French II class, I learned new vocabulary and pronunciation.

I took the French class to become comfortable speaking French. My son is also studying French in school. I think it helps both of us become comfortable speaking French.

The Beginning French class really helps establish a solid foundation in French learning and with the small class size, all students are able to practice speaking in class.

My French Literature class gave me lots of practice speaking French which will help when I travel to France.

After taking my Advanced Spanish and Conversation class, I improved in fluency when conversing with native Spanish speakers. I also participate in a Spanish language blog.

To become better in Spanish conversation, it's all about the practice. So, I took the Spanish: Advanced Conversation class. Now, I'm looking forward to the next semester.

The Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra instructor does such a good job leading the orchestra. It gives me great satisfaction that I am able to perform Classical music.

Ted, the conductor, always makes Peninsula Symphonic Band rehearsals a pleasure and it's fun to play with other musicians.

The Violin class has sparked my interest in music and introduced me to the beauty of the violin, an instrument I once knew nothing about. Learning the violin brings me joy and adds beauty to my life.

I can have short, but meaningful conversations in Mandarin after taking the Beginning Chinese class. Lucia gets you comfortable with everyday language and helps you to better understand Chinese culture.

In my Beginning Chinese class, it was great to have regular practice with other beginner-levelspeakers. The instruction emphasized tones and gave an understanding of the context and meaning of vocabulary and phrases.

The Beginning Spanish class was my first class at the Adult School. I signed up to learn Spanish so that I have the skills for my next trip to Colombia. Leo, the instructor is an amazing person.

Mr. McCord’s background includes expertise in many languages, and the Peace Corps. He is by far the BEST language instructor I have ever had! You have a gem at Palo Alto Adult Ed. He knows how to present material. Once the material has been presented, using the model, he asks students questions, around the room. HE GETS THE STUDENTS TO SPEAK. The class is upbeat and fast paced. I enjoy learning not just about Spanish, but about our place in the world, with bits of linguistics and history thrown in. His breadth of experience in different countries makes his presentation of these exercises very useful.
