VISUAL JOURNALING

Leonardo Da Vinci, Mark Twain, and Charles Darwin used sketchbooks and journals to jot down, develop, and preserve their creative ideas.

You will learn strategies used by contemporary artists and writers for combining visual images with writing in ways that fit your own purposes, style and needs.

All supplies listed below are locally available at Michaels, Staples, University Art, or online at Dick Blick.

The list of supplies to have for the first class are:

• A Sketchbook with good, sturdy paper
• Colored pencils, pens, markers

Supplies that will come into use in the following weeks are:

• Watercolor kit
• Collage, magazine, or recycled papers
• Scissors
• Glue stick

As you develop your own working methods and style, you may want to add other materials.
